Who We Are

Gimbal Innovations is a Cincinnati-based technology company. We build high-performance motion platforms. These platforms dramatically expand what’s possible with today’s virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) systems.

Specifically, our flagship product is Momentum 1080™. It’s a next-generation flight and vehicle simulation platform that combines immersive VR with fully untethered physical motion. As a result, Momentum 1080 delivers professional-grade realism in a compact, affordable form factor. It emphasizes superior performance, efficiency, and accessibility.

Momentum 1080 also provides true three-axis, 360-degree rotational freedom – roll, pitch, and yaw – without mechanical limits. Indeed, no other commercially available simulator offers this level of motion capability at a comparable price-to-performance ratio.

Meanwhile, our proprietary control system synchronizes simulator motion with the user’s visual field in real time. This creates a deeply realistic, intuitive experience we call Visceral Reality™.

The Origin of Momentum 1080

A lifelong fascination with flight gave rise to Momentum 1080. So did a deep belief that motion simulation could be radically better.

Specifically, an aerospace engineer who trained at the University of Cincinnati founded the company. He built it on more than 25 years of hands-on experience across aviation, aerospace engineering, and advanced manufacturing. In addition, that foundation spans jet propulsion and advanced materials. It also includes large-scale engineering programs he developed within global organizations such as GE Aerospace and Shell.

Breaking Barriers

Decades of exposure to traditional simulators revealed a systemic problem. Motion platforms had become expensive, power-hungry, spatially inefficient, and fundamentally constrained. Therefore, in 2020, our founder established Gimbal Innovations with a clear mandate. The goal: discard legacy assumptions and engineer a new class of motion simulation that delivers realism, efficiency, and scale.

Ambitious Design Criteria

From the outset, we engineered Momentum 1080 to meet four uncompromising requirements:

  1. Deliver fighter-jet-level performance
  2. Fit within an average home or commercial venue
  3. Operate using standard household electrical power
  4. Sell at a price point accessible to a meaningful market

Ultimately, the result is a fundamentally new class of motion platform.
