Momentum 1080

Key Enabling Technologies

While Momentum 1080 incorporates dozens of proprietary innovations, three core technologies enable its breakthrough performance and differentiation:

Control Moment Gyros (CMGs)

Momentum 1080 utilizes four Control Moment Gyros arranged in a proprietary configuration to control the spatial orientation of a fully untethered cockpit. This system enables simultaneous, unlimited rotation across all three rotational axes.

To our knowledge, Momentum 1080 represents the first application of CMG technology to a human-rated motion simulation platform.

Geodesic Structural Design

To meet strict requirements for strength, stiffness, weight, and manufacturability, Momentum 1080 employs a novel geodesic structure. Lightweight carbon-fiber links connect through precision-molded composite vertices, forming a rigid yet modular spherical enclosure.

External roller bearings allow unrestricted motion within a bowl-shaped base while minimizing friction and wear.

Control Software

Translating real-time simulation data into physical motion is extraordinarily complex. Momentum 1080’s custom control software converts input signals from popular simulator platforms—such as Microsoft Flight Simulator and X-Plane—into precise, real-time torque commands that drive the platform’s motion with exceptional fidelity and responsiveness.
